Merry Christmas π
Merry Christmas π
I’m so happy to share my way on how to make a simple gingerbread house at home. It’s so much fun making this. Infact this is my first time to make a gingerbread house, and before that I do a lot of research for the tricks and tips is various apps. And I got the the template in Pinterest. It’s quite easy to make and bake the dough but a little bit tricky in building the house it required patience and time to dry every single piece. But after all you got fun and enjoyable…..
INGREDIENTS:For the Dough:
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground cloves
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tsp ground ginger a
For the Royal Icing
- 1 lbs power sugar
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 3 egg whites
Assorted candies π¬ and sprinkles for the decorations as you like.METHOD:
- To make the dough combine the dry ingredients, flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and set aside.
- On the mix bowl bit the butter and sugar, then add the molasses, and egg bit until incorporated, then add the dry ingredients and mix until form a soft dough.
- Roll the dough in floured surface and form a ball then wrap with the plastic wrap and chilled in the fridge for an hour.
- After the dough completely chilled roll the dough in a floured surface then cut according to the templates preference…
but on this project I put windows on the front and side and also the main door this is optional.
- After cut the the place on the fridge for about 30 minutes before start to bake. While the done is on the fridge pre heat the oven for about 350 degrees F .
- Then bake the dough for about 15 minutes or until become light brown the edges. Then transfer the dough into the cooling rack for completely cool…..
- Then it time to make the royal icing, make sure the mixing bowl and the whisk attachment is grease free, whisk the egg whites then add the cream of tartar until soft peaks then gradually add the sifted powdered sugar bit until stiff peaks form then transfer to the air tight container to prevent dry.
- To assemble the gingerbread house, put some royal icing to the piping bag. Then place the back on the center of the cake board put some royal icing to secure. Then attached the side apply some royal icing both sides then followed by the back and front of the house always use the royal icing to secure each sides. Then attached the roof and the chimney then let it dry for about an hour before decorating the entire house….. but in this gingerbread house is use the royal icing for the snow effects on the roof you can use what ever you like…. and a lots of sprinkles, in the front and side windows as well in the main door,I use ice cream cone for the fine tree and pipe with the royal icing too. It’s fun right? Hope you will enjoy making your own gingerbread house too……Merry Christmas π Everyone π πππππ.
