Christmas is coming around the globe…..happy holidays everyone let celebrates this season with happiness and joy… i do my gingerbread house before December come…. it’s early right….? But it’s okay…. for the past year I always download a templates in online app to do my gingerbread, but this time I made my own measurements although the design of the house I get in the movie ” BFG ” I saw one of the scenes there the house next to orphanage …I followed that house as a designed…. but not the whole house just only the front view….. some I designed thru my imagination….π€π€π.Although it’s a bit challenging I’m having fun making my own Gingerbread House.
I used different kinds of spiced in this recipe…. that’s why whole season the house smell good …. and if I need to make sure the foundation of the house is stable so will not easy to collapse… just follow the right amount of every ingredients…. the stability of the cookie is very important in making gingerbread house…
And I used royal icing to fixed every parts of the house … and to hold all the decorations….around 2 to 3 cups of royal icing…. and the rest I used sugar paste, candies , and sprinkle for the decorations… gelatin sheet for the glass window …. so everything is edibles. Except the lights. Some using golden syrup for the gingerbread dough but for molasses is works great. so let get started….

Tools

METHOD
- First divide the ingredients into two batches…but if you have big mixer you can do it in one batch ….for me I need two batches because my mixer is not big enough.
- Combined all dry ingredients and shift and set aside
- The using stand mixer with paddle attachment mixed the sugar , shortening and butter until become smooth, then add egg and molasses continue mixing until combined
- Then gradually the dry ingredients in low speed until combined and form a
soft dough… dent over mixed….then pop up into the fridge for 30 minutes… while the dough is resting prepare the baking sheet and lined with parchment paper, prepare the template for the house also
- Pre heat the oven into 300 fahrenheit. Roll the dough into half cm thick and cut the dough while still cool to achieve the clean cut… after all cut the dough bake for around 50-60 minutes or until it hardens…
- After all the cookies baked let it cool completely
- Before assembling the gingerbread house make sure its already cooled….then assembled parts by parts using the royal icing …. let some parts already dry up before proceed to another parts .
- It’s takes times so you no need to hurry otherwise you got into trouble in assembling…. before you attached the roof if you wish to put light inside you need to assembled first then proceed to the roof.
- After all parts are assembled then it’s time to decorate the house
- The finishing touch is to decorate as what you like….
