Green Tea with Pistachio Scones

Scones is one of my favorites during tea time pair with hot coffee is perfect. This is my first time to make using green tea or matcha….. then I add toppings with crushed pistachios. It’s very savory the salteness and buttery combination is perfect match. So here we go….


  • 2 cup plain flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold salted butter
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 3-4 drop pistachios flavors
  • 1/4 cup chopped pistachios
  • 1 tbsp green tea or matcha powder


  1. Pre heat oven to 180 degrees C. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, sugar,salt and green tea powder in a medium mixing bowl then add the chopped cold butter mix until form into crumbs.
  3. In the other bowl mix the egg, milk and pistachios flavor mix until combined, then add to the flour mixture little by little until all incorporated and form a soft dough, then knead until no more lumps.
  4. In the working surface roll the dough into desired thickness and cut using the cookie cutter then sprinkle the chopped pistachios on the top the place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 12-15 minutes.
  5. After done remove from the oven and let it cool.( but for me I like to eat while still warm and spread with some jams or whipped cream.
